High availability clustering capabilities have been available for IBM's version of UNIX, AIX, for over 10 years. In 2006, IBM extended their High Availability Cluster MultiProcessing (HACMP) capabilities to include Linux when run on Power processors. Power processors are available on the System p, System i, and BladeCenter. Data centers now have additional options for high availability and high performance on IBM proprietary hardware for their mission critical applications using HACMP.
