With smaller IT budgets and limited resources, small and mid-sized enterprises (SMEs) have traditionally been unable to buy world-class enterprise applications. This situation has changed. Leading vendors such as SAP are delivering solutions tailored to the needs of SMEs at much more affordable prices.

SAP Is Committed to the SME Space

Given the saturation of the large enterprise segment in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) market, SAP is planning to radically change the composition of its customer base. Currently, SMEs account for 30% of SAP's sales. By 2010, SAP expects to increase this number to 45%. This means attracting approximately 70,000 new SME customers.
