Wireless carriers have been adding new, high margin entertainment services as networks have become capable of delivering music and video. Enterprises have tried to adjust to managing the costs associated with the use of these services through plan selection and/or wireless usage policy enforcement. But one Canadian wireless carrier, TELUS Mobility (TELUS), has just thrown another curveball at IT departments responsible for managing enterprise wireless usage and costs.
Canada's second largest wireless carrier has started offering pornography on-demand to wireless subscribers for $2.50 to $3.40 per photo or video clip. While TELUS is not offering the service on corporate and business plans, many small and mid-sized enterprises (SMEs) do not provide cell phones and plans to users. Rather they allow employees to select their own phones and plans and then expense their wireless bills back to the enterprise.
